Lucienne in a World without Solitude, Won Bucheon Choice

The 26th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival held 'Shorts’ Night' on July 11 to announce the winners of the Short Competitions.

Persona (directed by Moon Sujin) won the Best Korean Short Film in Korean Fantastic, the competition category for Korean films. The Stranger (directed by Song Wonchan) won 3 awards, including the Audience Award for Korean Short Film, Watcha's Pick for Shorts, and Special Mention. The other winners of Watcha's Pick for Shorts are Down the Mountain (directed by Kim Joon), Red Mask KF94 (directed by Kim Minha), Bardo (directed by Jung Jihyun), and James English Academy (directed by Kim Kwonhoan).

The film Persona depicts the gap between 'me' and 'my persona.' It is the first Korean animation to enter the short competition category at the 75th Festival de Cannes in May. In addition, the film was officially invited to the Animafest Zagreb Competition Division and the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, receiving a series of favorable reviews. Director Moon Sujin said, "It is a meaningful film for me, and I am so happy to have such a good opportunity that I can work harder using this experience as a stepping stone for the future."

The winner of the Best Short Film of Bucheon Choice, the international competition category, is Lucienne in a World without Solitude (France, directed by Geordy COUTURIAU). The winner of the Jury’s Choice for Short Film is Moshari (Bangladesh, directed by Nuhash HUMAYUN) while the Audience Award for Short Film went to Brutalia, Days of Labor (Greece & Belgium, directed by Manolis MAVRIS).

The film Lucienne in a World without Solitude depicts the sharing life with twins who look just like themselves in a world without loneliness in which everyone shares their life with their double. "This award is very meaningful for me because I've grown up watching a lot of Korean movies," Director Geordy COUTURIAU said.
