Decision to Leave, the Winner of the Best Director at the 75th Festival de Cannes, Sold to 192 countries around the world

Underground the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France, where the 75th Festival de Cannes was celebrating the annual festival with the cineastes from all over the world, a war was going on among movie buyers around the world. It is Marché du Film, the world's largest film market, where more than 12,000 people gather every year to buy and sell movies.

The films attracting the most interest are those that have entered the Festival de Cannes. CJ ENM's booth, in charge of distribution and investment for Decision to Leave by Director Park Chanwook, the winner of the Competition section, and Broker by Director Kore-eda Hirokazu, was especially crowded with people. Park Jungmin, the head of CJ ENM's overseas distribution team, said, "In the case of Decision to Leave, the expectation toward Director Park Chanwook and the highly elevated status of K-movies have made synergy together, leading it to sell at the highest price among CJ ENM overseas sales records." In the case of Broker, transactions continued even before the Festival de Cannes began, delivering the news that it was sold to 171 countries around the world.

Screen Daily, which publishes a special edition during the festival, introduced 16 K-Movies, from the films officially invited to the festival this year to the films that could be met in the market, saying, "Starting with Decisions to Leave and Broker, Korean films show strong presence.” Those 16 films were introduced as the best Asian movies.

With more than 350 film companies from around the world attending the market, 8 Korean film-related companies such as CJ ENM, Lotte Entertainment, Contents Panda, Megabox Plus M, Studio Bonanza, ACEMAKER movieworks, K-Movie Entertainment, and Finecut set up their booths. An official said, "Many buyers have expressed their intention to buy Korean films since the beginning of the market. We can feel the status of K-content has risen since the global box office hits of PARASITE (2019) and Squid Game (2021), the TV series."
