Ryu Hyeyoung to Co-Star in Hah Junwon’s Feature Debut

The Korean streaming platform wavve has landed another major new original film project. Actors Cho Jinwoong, Kim Heeae and Ryu Hyeyoung have all confirmed their participation in the upcoming political thriller Dead Man (literal title), which will mark the feature directing debut of Hah Junwon.

Dead Man, which begins production in November, will be produced by Palette Pictures. Though it is a wavve original, the project is also exploring a possibly theatrical run. Palette Pictures has been behind several films detailing political corruption, including Moby Dick (2011), Nameless Gangster : Rules of the Time (2012), and The Mayor (2017).

Cho Jinwoong, known for A Hard Day (2014) and Believer (2018), will appear as Lee Manjae, the CEO of a Bitcoin exchange that is actually a front for a major slush fund. Kim Heeae, seen last year in the smash hit drama The World of the Married, will appear as presidential campaign manager Madam Shim. Hot off the legal drama Law School, Ryu Hyeyoung has been cast as Gong Heejoo, a woman planning revenge on Manjae, who she holds responsible for her father’s death.

Director Hah Junwon previously worked as one of the writers on Bong Joonho’s The Host (2006).

Originally set up by Korean broadcasters KBS, SBS and MBC to give their content an online home, wavve becoming edging into its own original content last year with programs such as the sci-fi anthologies series SF8. Earlier this year, they announced their first original film, the crime thriller Gentleman (literal title) with Ju Jihoon, Choi Sungeun and Park Sungwoong.
