BRING ME HOME Heading to Top North American Genre Fest

Last week, the Fantasia International Film Festival revealed its third and final wave of programming for this year’s 24th edition, which will take place exclusively online from August 20 to September 2. The Korean thriller Bring Me Home (2019) has been added to the lineup, which now counts 15 Korean films, among them six features.

Bring Me Home (2019), the first feature film role for screen legend LEE Young-ae since PARK Chan-wook’s Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (2005), debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival last year. It is the debut film of KIM Seung-woo and also stars YU Jae-myeong, LEE Won-geun and PARK Hae-joon. The film follows a mother who keeps looking for her son who disappeared several years earlier. One day she receives a tip that he may have been spotted in a small coastal village. LEE’s comeback vehicle joins the previously announced Korean features Beauty Water, Jesters: The Game Changers (2019), ME AND ME, My Punch-Drunk Boxer (2019) and Vertigo (2019).

Fantasia will also be screening a bounty of Korean short films, including the live action Fall Out from CHUNG Jae-hoon which competed in the Korean Fantastic Shorts section of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival earlier this summer. Another Bucheon selectee is KIM Kang-min’s animation Kkum, which also screened at the Fantoche International Animation Film Festival.

Homo ErecTattoos by KIM Tae-woo, which was invited to Animafest Zagreb among others, will be presented before Beauty Water. Screening before Jesters: The Game Changers (2019) will be KIM Sangdong’s Yonorang, which was part of the Indie-AniFest Film Festival lineup last year. Also invited are the animations A-choo! by LEE Bo-reum, JO Min-jeong’s Dream Eater (2019), KIM Kyoung-bae’s Seoulsori, JANG Na-hee’s Who Brings Chocolate Jam? and The Master Piece (2019), co-directed by KIM Si-on, LEE Eun-zin, LEE Ji-young.
