Sophomore Film from GANG Director JO Ba-reun

JUNG Jin-woo, AHN Ji-hye, LEE Min-ji and CHO Sun-ki have signed on to star in the film Slate (literal title), the sophomore film of GANG (2019) director JO Ba-reun.

Slate will follow the story of an actor who dreams of becoming a leading man, until one day, while on set, he finds himself transported into the parallel world of a film in which he plays a swordsman, and comes to learn about himself through the experience.

Playing Gwi-gum, a swordsman whose skills are unrivalled, will be CHO Sun-ki, who played one of the leads of GANG and also appeared in the indie Black Summer (2017). Meanwhile, stage and musical actor JUNG Jin-woo will play the YouTuber known as Ghost, a shy and depressed man with only 15 subscribers who dreamt of gaining people’s love and admiration by becoming a YouTuber.

Also appearing in the film will be AHN Ji-hye, of Our Body (2019) and Romang (2019), and LEE Min-ji, of Jane (2017) and The Vanished (2018).

Director JO Ba-reun made his feature debut last year with the high school fight drama GANG, which debuted in the Korean Cinema Today - Panorama section of the Busan International Film Festival last October. He previously made the short film Vibration in 2016.

Slate is eyeing a mid-April production start.
