First-Time Filmmaker Calls the Shots on SHOUTS OF A FATHER
JUNG Soo-jung (aka Krystal JUNG), a member of the world-famous K-pop outfit f(x), has signed on to appear in the indie drama Shouts of a Father (translated title). The film will mark the feature debut of director CHOI Ha-na.
JUNG is slated to appear as To-il, a college student who falls pregnant out of wedlock following a passionate romance and begins a search for her biological father before her wedding day. Production on the film will be overseen by ATO Inc., the company responsible for major indie breakthroughs such as YOON Ga-eun’s The World of Us (2016) and SHIN Dong-seok’s Last Child (2018). Shouts of a Father will be their sixth project.
JUNG, a Korean-American who was born in San Francisco, debuted as a member of f(x) in 2009 and has appeared in several popular TV dramas, including the SBS show The Heirs in 2013. While Shouts of a Father will mark Krystal’s Korean feature film debut, aside from her appearances in concert documentaries such as I AM : SMTOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR in Madison Square Garden (2012), she also starred in the Chinese romantic comedy Unexpected Love alongside Lay ZHANG, which was filmed several years ago but has yet to be released.
Director CHOI previously made the short film Gosum the hedgehog in 2012. Shouts of a Father is scheduled to begin production in August.
