KIM You-jung Offered Co-Starring Role

LEE Sung-min has been cast as the lead in the upcoming mystery-thriller The Night of the 8th Day (translated title), which will mark the directing debut of KIM Tae-hyeong. The young star KIM You-jung may also be joining the veteran star on screen, though contrary to early reports her participation has yet to be confirmed as the actress is still considering an offer to join the project.

The Night of the 8th Day will feature LEE as a man who was an exorcist in the past and now lives with the trauma from that period in his life. Over time, the evil he put away finds a way to resurface and he is forced to confront it once more. KIM would play a psychic who holds a crucial key to unlocking the mystery.

A big screen veteran of almost two decades, LEE is coming off of one of his best years, which saw him take a leading role in the acclaimed espionage drama The Spy Gone North (2018), a part that earned him several awards, and the successful serial killer thriller The Witness (2018). Meanwhile, LEE will be seen this year in both the high-concept comedy Mr. Zoo and the thriller Beast.

An in-demand child actress since the tender age of 5, KIM has continually appeared in films such as The Chaser (2008), Commitment (2013) and Thread of Lies (2014), while her popularity has skyrocketed owing to her well-known TV appearances. As an adult, her first leading role in a film was opposite CHA Tae-hyun in family comedy BECAUSE I LOVE YOU (2017).

The film will go before cameras at some point in the first half of this year, once casting is finalized.
