Period Comedy from THE LAST RIDE Director Begins Production

K-pop star LEE Jun-ho, of the popular boyband 2PM, is starring alongside JEONG So-min in the upcoming period comedy drama Gibang Bachelor (working title). The project is the latest from director NAM Dae-joong, who previously helmed the youth comedy-drama THE LAST RIDE (2016).

The story focuses on Heo-saek, played by LEE, the first male courtesan in the Joseon Dynasty who captures the imagination of the women in the kingdom. Meanwhile JEONG will play Hae-won, a beautiful woman who is more progressive in her thinking than her peers.

LEE jumped from his successful singing career into the cinema with a well-regarded turn in the hit thriller Cold Eyes in 2013. He went on to play one of the leads in the successful youth comedy Twenty (2015) and also featured in the period action drama Memories of the Sword (2015). Meanwhile JEONG played alongside LEE before in Twenty and went on to play the lead of the indie fantasy drama Alice: Boy from Wonderland (2015) and the family comedy Daddy You, Daughter Me (2017).

Joining the young stars in the drama will be CHOI Gwi-hwa of A Taxi Driver (2017) and THE OUTLAWS (2017), YEA Ji-won of The Winter of the Year Was Warm (2012) and GONG Myoung of this month’s Lunar New Year crime comedy Extreme Job. Production began last month.
