1987 Takes Home Another Grand Prize at KFPA Awards

HAN Ji-min and JU Ji-hoon Honored with Top Acting Prizes


The Korean Film Producers Association Awards held their 5th edition on December 11th. This year’s Grand Prize went to JANG Joon-hwan’s hit period political drama 1987: When the Day Comes (2017), while YIM Soon-rye earned the Best Director Prize for her feel good youth drama Little Forest. The top acting accolades went to HAN Ji-min for the gritty indie Miss Baek and JU Ji-hoon, lead of the serial killer procedural Dark Figure of Crime.

JIN Seo-yeon earned the Best Supporting Actress Award for her incendiary role in LEE Hae-young’s Drug War remake Believer, while BAE Sung-woo took home Best Supporting Actor for his part as the stolid right-hand man in the period siege epic The Great Battle

1987: When the Day Comes also earned the Best Screenplay Award while Believer and YOON Jong-bin’s espionage yarn The Spy Gone North largely swept the technical prizes. Believer earned the Best Music and Best Editing awards while The Spy Gone North was awarded for Best Cinematography, Best Lighting and Best Production Design. 

Hit found footage horror GONJIAM: Haunted Asylum earned the Best Sound Award, and the Best Technical Prize was handed to the visual effects team behind the smash hit fantasy epics Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds (2017) and Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days.
