CLOSE TO YOU Eyes October Production Start

Actor CHO Jin-woong has signed to star in the debut directing effort of fellow thespian JUNG Jin-young, a 27-year veteran of the screen in Korea. Following a lengthy preparation period, Close to You is expected to begin rolling in October. CHO and JUNG co-starred in last year’s Colonial Era prison trial drama MAN OF WILL (2017).

From a script penned by JUNG’s own hand, Close to You follows a man who visits a school in the countryside to investigate an incident, and there meets with a teacher and a couple. Also featuring in the film will be BAE Soo-bin (Memories of the Sword, 2015), CHA Soo-yeon (Beautiful, 2008) and JEONG Hae-gyoon (The Villainess, 2017).

JUNG has featured in a wide array of works in his lengthy career, including King And The Clown (2005), The Happy Life (2007), Sunny (2008), Ode to My Father (2014) and Gangnam Blues (2015). Recently he has appeared in several works of indie auteur Hong Sangsoo, most recently this year’s Grass.

Busy leading man CHO was very visible in theaters this summer, first in LEE Hae-young’s hit action-thriller Believer, a remake of Johnnie TO’s Drug War, and then in YOON Jong-bin’s big-budget espionage drama The Spy Gone North. He will next be seen in the high concept chamber comedy-thriller Intimate Strangers and also recently wrapped the period film The Clowns (working title).
