Kidnap Drama Marks Directorial Debut of KIM Seung-woo

Actress LEE Young-ae is about to make her big screen comeback as she has signed on to appear in her first feature film in 13 years, since PARK Chan-wook’s revenge drama Sympathy For Lady Vengeance (2005). Production outfit 26 Company announced on February 21 that LEE would return in the kidnap drama Find Me (working title), which will be the first work of director KIM Seung-woo.

Upon receiving the script, LEE was reportedly impressed by the in-depth characteristics of the lead role, a mother whose intellectually disabled son goes missing from a playground in front of their home. A mother of two herself, LEE was taken by the unique maternal instincts detailed in KIM’s script.

Known for classics such as Joint Security Area /JSA (2000) and One Fine Spring Day (2001), LEE has taken on intermitted roles in TV dramas following Sympathy For Lady Vengeance and last year appeared in the short film The Lady from 406 from director LEE Kyoung-mi.

First time director KIM previously worked in the production department of films such as the drama Traces of Love (2006) and LEE Chang-dong’s Secret Sunshine (2007).

The project is now searching for the rest of its cast members as it eyes a production start date in the first half of the year.
