Warner Bros to Release Arm Wrestling Drama in 2018

The arm wrestling drama Champion with Don LEE (aka MA Dong-seok), GWON Yool and HAN Ye-ri wrapped production on December 17th in the Nonhyeon neighborhood in Seoul. Production took around nine weeks on the film, which was directed by KIM Yong-wan and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Korea in 2018.

Champion stars LEE as Mark, an amateur arm wrestler with dream of becoming a champion who teams up with the promoter Jin-ki (GWON Yool), who is also looking to turn his life around. HAN plays Mark’s sister Soo-jin who appears before them with her children.

TRAIN TO BUSAN star LEE is coming off a strong 2017, which saw him headline the surprise Chuseok smash THE OUTLAWS as well as the successful comedy hit The Bros. He’s currently in theaters with a special appearance in the blockbuster Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds.

GWON appeared in both the period court drama Anarchist from Colony and action drama A Special Lady this year while HAN was seen in indie omnibus The Table and is currently filming KIM Jee-woon’s sci-fi action Inrang. Both actors appeared in the indie drama Worst Woman last year.

Director KIM previously made the feature Return Match (2014) and the shorts Intervention (2011) and Daytime Moon (2013). Prior to those he was an in-demand assistant director, having worked on nine projects, including the action film Quick (2011).
