Korean Indies to Screen in Taipei

Hong Sangsoo’s Claire’s Camera and LEE Seung-won’s Happy Bus Day have been invited to screen at the 54th Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival, which takes place from November 3rd to 24th. Hong’s film will be screened in the ‘Masters’ section while Happy Bus Day will feature in the ‘Windows on Asia’ lineup.

Claire’s Camera, which debuted as a special screening at the Cannes Film Festival, is one of three films directed by Hong this year, alongside On the Beach at Night Alone, which won the Best Actress Award for KIM Min-hee in Berlin, and The Day After, which was also shown at Cannes, where it screened in competition. The film, which was shot during last year’s Cannes Film Festival, features Isabelle Huppert as a photographer who strikes up a friendship with a fired sales agent played by KIM Min-hee

Happy Bus Day had its world premiere at the Hong Kong International Film Festival this year and went on to screen in competition at the Jeonju International Film Festival, where it picked up the CGV Arthouse Award-Upcoming Project Prize. It is the second film by LEE Seung-won, whose first work Communication & Lies debuted in the New Currents competition of the Busan International Film Festival in 2015, where it won the NETPAC Award and the Actress of the Year Award.
