Indie Director LEE Kyung-sub to Helm FEMALE MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT A

SUHO of Kpop group EXO will star alongside young actress KIM Hwan-hee of The Wailing in the upcoming webtoon adaptation Female Middle School Student A (translated title). The original webtoon was written by Heo5Pa6 and appeared on Naver from February 2015 to June of this year.

The adaption will be directed by LEE Kyung-sub, who debuted with the indie Miss the Train, which was screened at the Jeonju International Film Festival in 2014 and will make it to theaters at some point next year.

KIM is on board to play Jang Mi-rae, an introverted middle school student who spends a lot of time thinking and is addicted to video games. As she comes of age and learns about the ins and outs of the world around her she begins to grow close to other people.

KIM drew strong notices for her intense performance as KWAK Do-won’s possessed daughter in NA Hong-jin’s Cannes-invited horror hit The Wailing last year, including the Best New Actor Award from the Daejong Film Awards. She has also appeared in the short Night Fishing (2011), directed by brothers PARK Chan-wook and PARK Chan-kyong, and the music drama Born to Sing (2013).

SUHO has already made a name for himself in several popular dramas and debuted on the big screen in the well-received low-budget youth drama One Way Trip, which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival in 2015.
