Next FAMTOUR Set to Take Place in Busan Later This Year

FAMTOUR, a program created by the Busan Film Commission (BFC) to attract location shoots to Busan, has been deemed a great success. “We launched the FAMTOUR in Busan in the first half of 2017 to invite Hollywood location managers to visit Busan’s major locations from June 6th to 10th.” BFC said in a press release on June 14th.

This year, BFC invited four location managers: Kent MATSUOKA of War for the Planet of the Apes and Ghostbusters, Becky Brake of Star Trek Beyond, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and Star Trek Into Darkness, Scott Trimble of Justice League, La La Land and Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Scott Allen Logan of The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Guardians of the Galaxy and Iron Man 3. In addition, the program was attended by officials from Mr. Romance, a local production service company that worked on The Avengers: Age of Ultron which was partially filmed in Seoul, and Black Panther which was also partially shot in Busan.

“The tour course focused on locations that would be difficult to shoot anywhere else but in Busan.” BFC said. “The program visited 37 places including Chungmu Facility, Gwangandaegyo Bridge, Marine City and Hanjin Heavy Industries factories.” The commission added that it plans to hold the next FAMTOUR later this year to attract continuous location shoots from Hollywood. Busan has already welcomed two major Hollywood productions this year with Black Panther and Pacific Rim: Uprising having visited the city to shoot on location earlier this spring.
