RED SHOES & THE SEVEN DWARFS also Adds Gina Gershon, Jim Rash

American Actresses Chloe Grace Moretz and Gina Gershon have been tapped to lead the voice cast of the upcoming animated Korean film Red Shoes & the Seven Dwarfs. From director HONG Sung-ho, the picture is being produced by Locus Corp. and is repped internationally by Korean sales agent FINECUT

A variation on the theme of the Snow White tale, Red Shoes & the Seven Dwarfs features a septet of narcissistic princes who find themselves transformed in unattractive dwarfs and is being produced on a USD 20 million budget.

Popular in Korea, where she is known for the Kick-Ass films and for being the first American to appear on the Korean Saturday Night Live, Moretz is on board to voice Snow White, while Gershon, of Cocktail (1988) and Face/Off (1997) will play Regina the evil queen. Joining them will be Jim Rash (The Way Way Back, 2013) who will play Prince Average.

Distributor FINECUT previewed some footage of the project to buyers during the Cannes Film Market. The film, which features the participation of animator KIM Sang-jin, known for his work on Big Hero 6 and Frozen, is expected to be ready for release at some point in 2018.

Meanwhile, FINECUT is also representing a pair of Korean titles screening at Cannes this year from HONG Sangsoo. The Day After screens in competition while Claire’s Camera, which features Isabelle Huppert, was selected as a special screening.
