The 14th Asiana International Short Film Festival (AISFF) takes place at the Cinecube in Gwanghwamun, Seoul and Cine Library in CGV Myungdong Station from November 3rd to 8th.

AISFF selected Hungarian director Kristof Deak’s Sing as its opening film this year. Set in a small community of children’s choir, the film portraits their union leading to a courageous determination against wrongful treatment in the duration of 25 minutes.

AISFF will screen 46 films among 5,327 entries from 121 countries in the International Competition section. The section includes films that deal with global issues such as woman’s rights, sexual minorities, the problem of the aged, illegal immigration and racial discrimination against Islamic culture.

Meanwhile, the total of 904 local short films was submitted in the Korean Competition section this year, and the number of submissions broke the previous record. The final selections are 11 projects, while the majority of submissions dealt with contemporary domestic issues including unemployment crisis, family dissolution and bullying problems as usual.

Eight awards including Grand Prize and Special Jury award will be endowed in the competition section. President of Jury, director CHOI Dong-hoon said that “We have to debate intensely to find the most brilliant films.”

AISFF is the first international competitive short film festival in Korea. For more information, you may visit the festival’s website at http://en.aisff.org.
