KWEB FEST Returns for 2nd Edition

VR Competition Added to Web Series Event
 

The KWEB FEST will return for its 2nd edition next month, when it will take place over August 18th to 20th in the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center in Seoul. This year, 106 works from 18 countries will vie for prizes in 28 categories, including 66 foreign series and 40 from Korea.

 

While several shows from around the world receive five nominations in various categories, the most heavily nominated shows are all Korean, with Dramaworld, Touching You, 72 Seconds and Click Your Heart each featured in six categories.

 

Nominees for Best Web Series (across all genres) include local shows Dramaworld, Missing Korea, Touching You, 72 Seconds, 88st. A League of Their Own and Click Your Heart, and international shows such as Zyara, Number of Silence, Mission Backup Earth, Arthur, Firpo, The Ushers, Heads & Tails, OSMOSIS, CODED, Airlock, Greenfield and The Rolling Soldier.

 

Some of the major local stars on the docket for this year’s KWEB FEST include Sandara PARK, the K-pop superstar of girlband 2NE1, nominated for Best Actress in Missing Korea, boyband 2PM member OK Taec-yeon, up for Best Actor in Touching You, and BAEK Sung-hyun, star of Marathon (2005) and several popular K-dramas.

 

Keeping abreast of the latest technological advances, the 2016 KWEB FEST is also adding a VR competition this year, with nine shows nominated in its new VR360 category.
