Debut Lineup Set for EFM
Next World Entertainment (NEW), a Korean film investor and distributor which has risen to prominence in recent years, is expanding into overseas sales. Subsidiary Contents Panda will debut on the international stage at next month’s European Film Market (EFM), during the Berlin International Film Festival.
Initially established in 2013, Contents Panda has been handling NEW’s international business and acquisitions operations. The new sales outfit will be led by Danny Lee, formerly the head of United Pictures’ international sales division. Previously, the bulk of NEW’s lineup was handled internationally by distributor Finecut, which is handling HA Jung-woo’s Chronicle of a Blood Merchant, NEW’s first major title of 2015.
Among the titles that Contents Panda will introduce at EFM are the upcoming NEW titles Granny’s Got Talent, the tale of an elderly woman (played by KIM Soo-mi) entering a TV swearing competition, the high concept romance The Beauty Inside (working title) with HAN Hyo-joo and the youth comedy Twenty (working title), starring KIM Woo-bin.
Further afield are the war film The Battle of Yeong-pyeong (working title) and Yeon Sang-ho’s new animation Master and Man, both of which are currently in production. The outfit will also present the indie Shadow Island, which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival last October.
