JISEUL Director invited to Forum of Independents

One of the older film festivals in the world, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival first took place in 1946.  But it wasn’t until in 1992 with PARK Kwang-su’s Berlin Report that Korean films started to become introduced at this Czechoslovakian film festival. At the 36th edition in 2001, New Korean Cinema Retrospective program invited over 15 titles and shone a light on Korea. Korean films have been making a presence every year since then.

O Muel made a name for himself through last year’s indie feature, Jiseul which went to almost 20 different film festivals around the world. Most notably, it won the Grand Jury prize at Sundance Film Festival in 2013. Following such success, O introduces Golden Chariot in the Sky, a story about a man who goes on a trip and meets unexpected individuals along the way. The premiere of Golden Chariot in the Sky will be through KVIFF’s Forum of Independents section.

The 49th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will run from July 4th to 12th this year.
