Outfit Strikes Multiple Sales in France

Korean sales outfit Finecut Inc. is having a busy Cannes Film Market after reporting a slew of sales on its diverse lineup. Current domestic chart-topped Obsessed, the KIM Dae-woo erotic drama that eclipsed both Godzilla and Transcendence’s debuts over the weekend in Korea, was purchased for distribution in Hong Kong and Macau by Bravos.

Obsessed features SONG Seung-heon, star of the Korean A Better Tomorrow remake from 2010, as an army captain returning to base following the Vietnam War, only to fall in love with a subordinate’s wife in his compound. Director KIM previously wrote Untold Scandal (2003) and directed The Servant (2010). Having already accrued 716,292 admissions, as of Monday, May 19th, Obsessed is leading the local box office chart and Finecut expects to lock more deals on the picture before the end of this year’s Cannes Film Market.

Finecut also scored sales on KIM Ki-duk’s Moebius and SHIN Yeon-shick’s Rough Play, which sold to Sundream for Hong Kong and Macau and Taiwan’s AV Jet. The company is also representing KIM’s upcoming 20th film One on One. The auteur is currently preparing a cut for international release that will differ from the domestic version. In addition, the erotic period comedy A Case of Bachelor Abduction also sold to Taiwan’s Eagle International Communication and Asian Media Rights for North America.
