ACCOMPLICES Conspires Its Way to 1 Million Admissions

HOPE and HWAYI Eclipse 2 Million Milestones
 

After only eight days in theaters GUK Dong-seok’s debut film, the thriller Accomplices, made its way over the one million admissions mark. It scored a first place finish over the weekend after accruing 648,179 admissions, but as of Wednesday the film has been pushed down to second place following the entry of the Hollywood’s Thor: Dark Legacy, a new entry from the expansive Marvel comic book franchise. Accomplices stars SON Ye-jin (A Moment to Remember, 2004) as a daughter beginning to suspect her doting father of murder.
 
Meanwhile, the emotionally charged drama Hope, starring SEOL Kyung-gu (Oasis, 2002) as a father in a family trying to cope in the wake of their young daughter’s sexual attack, has now amassed over 2.5 million admissions after a month in theaters. The film was directed by LEE Joon-ik, who was also behind the 2005 smash hit The King and the Clown. JANG Joon-hwan’s long-awaited comeback film Hwayi: A Monster Boy, his first in the ten years since Save the Green Planet, has reached over 2.3 million admissions during its 23 days in theaters. The film star YEO Jin-gu as a boy raised by a group of five criminals, the leader of which is played by KIM Yun-seok (The Thieves).
