Busan Film Commission to Support 10 Film Projects This Year

Film planning and development support, sponsored by the Busan Film Commission (BFC), has picked 10 film project for this year. A representative of BFC said they conducted evaluations twice to decid on four films to win the cash prize of KRW 20 million (USD 18.4 thousand) and six films to win KRW 10 million (USD 9.2) among a total of 131 entries collected this year.

KRW 20 million will be given to each of YOON Seong-ho’s Late-night Meal (working title), KWON Young-chul’s Bad Friends (working title), HA Ki-ho’s Privacy (working title) and IM Kwon-taek’s Cremation (working title). Late-night Meal is an adult comedy about episodes that arise because of food between a man and a woman. Cremation is the 102nd directed by the Korean master director IM, which portrays thoughts about dissipating human bodies.

Winners of KRW 10 million are A Disappointing Marriage (working title), A Wild Dog (working title), Under Age (working title), Pipeline (working title) and Assault Incident (working title).

BFC will accord the 10 projects three months for script development before they go through another evaluation process and select and bestow an additional KRW 10 million to three films most likely to be made. The three winners of the second round of evaluation will be authorized to participate in BFC Project Pitching of the Busan International Film Festival. The two best films found at the pitching will another win KRW 10 million.
