The film draws upon the tension and exhaustion experienced by subway train conductors working underground like moles, and encountering death at any moment. They frequently witness the deaths of passengers who jump into the path of moving trains, and slowly they become infected by the desperation of these suicides. The fate of scores of these anonymous dead instills in the conductors a sense of crisis.
